THE PROCESS

DESIGN

My inspiration comes from daily walks with my dog along the river or around the park.  I love to forage for seasonal flowers and plants while walking.

Back in the studio I develop my sketches and photographs into repeat patterns and then

screenprint my designs on pure Irish linen fabric .

PURE IRISH LINENS

Linen production is a very important part of Ireland's industrial heritage.  All the base cloths I use are

100% linen.

It is the most beautiful fabric to print on, absorbing the pigments to give rich and subtle colours

SCREENPRINTING

Without a doubt screenprinting is my favourite part of the process.  I handprint the designs by using a squeegee to push ink through a silkscreen stencil.  I love the alchemy of mixing the pigments, creating colour blends and layering translucent inks.

All of the pigments and pastes used are sourced locally and are waterbased and solvent free.
